Holiday time looms large.

Roll on September.

We're counting the days.

Soon we'll be sailing again.

We can hardly wait. Could you?

Oh, I almost forgot to mention. All this talk's about Turkey.

(My) Memories Are Made Of These ...

Just because ... they're all so special.

Especially ...

And so to my bed;to sleep, perchance to dream.

Kenneth Williams: English Eccentric [Camp] Comic.

Oh, yes, we remember Ken well.

The wonderfully wacky and so truly (camp) tragicomic, epitome of English eccentricity:
the late Kenneth Williams.

Will the world ever witness Williams' like again?

The Late Great Sir Laurence Olivier, Plays Richard 111.

Sit spellbound as you witness a truly masterful performance by the greatest Shakespearean actor the world has ever known.

Sir Laurence Olivier as 'Richard 111'.

Well?

Was I right? Or was I right?

From My Birthday Wish Want List

*

It's my birthday next month (August).

Vanity forbids me from saying which one.

However, here's something I'd really like to receive as a birthday present.

At least
it's a picture of something I'd give the world to see happen -- and the sooner the better.

As 'Bloody Mary' sang in that marvelous old musical 'South Pacific' - " ... if you don't have a dream, how you gonna have your dream come true?"

If only, eh?

George W. Bush - The World's Most Dangerous Dope

A fit and proper President of the USA?

A competent Commander in Chief of the planet's most powerful military?

The fellow with his finger on the button?

Heaven help us all. If it wasn't so frightening it would be funny -- but even then, only in a 'sick joke' sort of way.

A bloody good question; how, indeed.

' IF ' by Rudyard Kipling

Here's another Old Brit -- called RUDYARD KIPLING.

You may recall that old Rudyard wrote this:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
" IF " ...
IF you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:
If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!'
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
' Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch,
if neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!
---------------------------------------------------
To which we'd like to add -- 'and a bloody good man, too'.
Fondly Remembering Freddy Mecury ...
*
Remember the the fantastic, fabulous, and late lamented Freddy Mecury?
In the beginning:
Then there was this brilliant Barcelona blockbuster.
And sadly, came the end; far, far too soon..
'This Old Brit Proudly Presents.' It's a scrapbook-blog ... of sorts.
*
Here's where what you see is what you get.
Where whatever you see will be something we're proud to present and to share - in public.
Here you can expect to see a mixture of various videos, plenty of pictures and photos, read some things we've read, and to listen to some of the same songs, tunes, etc, that we have -- and loved.
In fact, whatever we decide to share here, it should help show you who and what we really are.
First off - here's Sophie - the light of our lives. She's our lovely (and only) little 11 year old granddaughter.
Next, it's Sophie's Nana; Rhona, our marvelous missus; looking lovely, as always. Some special 'senior' -- eh?
No prizes for guessing who's coming up now.
Yup. It's yours truly.
See you again shortly.
